Playing
What is Daily Word Hunt?
A free word search in your browser. Letters are already on the grid; you find each word from the list by dragging or tapping endpoints.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the home page and play today’s puzzle.
Where is today’s puzzle?
Always on the home page. You do not need a special dated URL.
Can I play older puzzles?
Yes — open Past puzzles and pick a date, or use a shared /daily/YYYY-MM-DD link.
Why did the puzzle change overnight?
A new puzzle is released by calendar day (site timezone). When the date changes, the home page loads that day’s grid.
Drag doesn’t work well on my phone. What now?
Use tap first letter → tap last letter. Same straight-line rule, often easier on small screens. Details: How to play.
Which directions are allowed?
Horizontal, vertical, diagonal — forwards or backwards. Straight lines only.
What does Hint do?
It helps you find a remaining word (limited uses per puzzle). Use them for the last hard ones.
What is Large print?
A bigger letter size for easier reading. Toggle it under the puzzle or use the large-print link in the tools row.
Can I print the puzzle?
Yes — open Print, then use your browser’s print dialog (Cmd/Ctrl+P).
Content & themes
Are these official movie / game word packs?
No. Default dailies use general vocabulary. We avoid unlicensed franchise packs as product IP.
Will there be themed packs?
Planned later (for example nature, cities, history with clear rights). Daily play does not depend on them.
Are the definitions (glosses) complete dictionary entries?
No — short blurbs after you find a word. For study, use a real dictionary.
Privacy, ads, money
Do you collect my personal data to play?
Play works without an account. Hosting may process standard technical logs (see Privacy Policy). Theme preferences may stay in your browser only.
What about cookies / analytics?
You will see a cookie banner on first visit. Analytics stay off until you accept. Change your mind anytime: footer → Cookie settings.
Are there ads?
Not part of the core experience today. If that changes, we will update the Privacy Policy and this FAQ.
Is the game free?
Yes for daily play. Optional paid extras are not required and are not the current focus.
Is there a leaderboard?
Not yet. Scores may come later as an optional feature.
Technical
The board won’t load / says it could not load the puzzle
- Refresh the page
- Check that you are online
- Try again later if the file for “today” is missing (fallback sample may appear)
- Confirm the date: past days need a generated file under that date
Does it work offline?
After assets and today’s JSON are cached by your browser, short offline play may work, but we do not guarantee full offline mode yet.
Which browsers are supported?
Recent Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on phone or desktop. Very old browsers may not support the interactions.

Note the date, device, and what you tried. Then write via Contact.
Legal
Where are the legal documents?
Can schools print puzzles?
Non-commercial classroom use of the daily print view is fine under our Terms, unless we publish a stricter license later.
