Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Daily Word Hunt (“we,” “the site”) handles information when you visit or use Daily Word Hunt.
This product is designed to be simple and static-first. You can play the daily word search without creating an account.
1. Summary
| Topic | Today’s practice |
|---|---|
| Account | Not required |
| Puzzle play | Runs in your browser after loading public puzzle files |
| Leaderboards / scores | Not live yet; if added later, this policy will be updated |
| Ads | Not part of the core product today |
| Sale of personal data | We do not sell your personal information |
2. Information we may process
2.1 Information you choose to provide
- Optional contact — if you email us or use a future feedback form, we receive whatever you send (for example, your address and message).
- Optional future features — if we add nicknames, score submission, or newsletters, we will collect only what those features need and update this page.
2.2 Information collected automatically
Like most websites, hosting and delivery networks may process technical data, such as:
- IP address
- Browser type and device class
- Pages requested, approximate time, and referrer
- Error or performance logs
We use this to keep the site running, debug issues, and understand aggregate traffic—not to build a personal profile for sale.
2.3 Local data on your device
The game and theme settings may store data only on your device, for example:
- Light / dark theme preference
- Large-print toggle state
- Optional future local progress (e.g. “completed today”)
This data typically stays in localStorage or similar browser storage and is not uploaded unless a future feature explicitly says so.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
3.1 Your controls
On first visit we show a cookie banner so you can:
- Accept all — allow optional analytics (when enabled)
- Reject optional — necessary only
- Customize — toggle analytics on or off
You can reopen choices anytime via Cookie settings in the site footer (or window.__cookieConsent.open() in the browser console for debugging).
Your choice is stored in localStorage under a site-specific key (not used as a third-party tracking cookie). If we change consent categories in a material way, we may ask again (versioned consent).
3.2 Categories
| Category | Default | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Always on | Theme preference, storing your consent choice, basic site function |
| Analytics | Off until you opt in | Aggregate traffic / product improvement — only loaded if you allow it |
3.3 What we may use
- Essential browser storage for theme or UI preferences
- Hosting / CDN technical logs required to deliver the site
- Optional analytics scripts or beacons — only after opt-in, and only when we actually enable a vendor (we will name the tool here when live)
We do not use play as a vehicle to track you across unrelated third-party sites. Analytics remain denied until you accept.
4. How we use information
- Operate and improve Daily Word Hunt
- Fix bugs and prevent abuse
- Respond if you contact us
- Comply with law when required
5. Sharing
We may share limited technical data with:
- Hosting / CDN providers (to serve pages and assets)
- Professional advisors or authorities when legally required
We do not sell personal information.
6. Retention
- Server/CDN logs: retained according to the host’s defaults or our configuration (often days to months).
- Contact messages: kept only as long as needed to respond and keep basic records.
- Local device data: until you clear site data or uninstall the browser profile.
7. Children
The daily word lists are general vocabulary and suitable for a broad audience. The site is not directed at children under 13 in a way that knowingly collects personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it where feasible.
8. International visitors
The site may be hosted or cached in multiple regions. By using the site, you understand that technical data may be processed where our providers operate.
9. Your choices
- Play without an account.
- Clear cookies and site storage in your browser.
- Use private / incognito mode.
- Contact us to ask about data we may hold from emails or future features.
10. Changes
We may update this policy as the product changes (for example, if we launch scores or analytics). The “Last updated” date will change; material changes will be reflected on this page.
11. Contact
For privacy questions, use the email on the Contact page and put Privacy in the subject line.
