1. Start with rare letters
Q, X, Z, J, and K appear less often. Spot them first, then walk outward.
2. Use length as a filter
If the list has one 8-letter word, you’re not hunting every short fragment. Anchor on length.
3. Check reverse directions early
Many dailies place words backwards. After a miss, try the same line the other way.
4. Diagonals last (or first, if you prefer)
Pick a system. Some people clear rows/columns, then diagonals. Consistency beats random scanning.
5. Tap-tap when the grid is dense
On small screens, drag can overshoot. Tap the first letter, then the last — same result, often cleaner.
6. Save hints for the last two words
Hints are limited. Burn them when the board is noisy and you’re stuck on leftovers.
7. Read the gloss
